OpenSearch 3.3 and 3.4, and the end of 2.x

OpenSearch 3.3 and 3.4 are selectable on ClusterNest clusters. In the same change, OpenSearch 2.x is deprecated here: still running, no longer offered on new clusters.

Both are minor releases on the 3.x line. The detail is in the OpenSearch announcements for 3.3 and 3.4.

About 2.x

New clusters can no longer be created on 2.x, and the console and the Terraform provider have both dropped it from their version lists.

Clusters already on 2.x keep running. There is no cutoff date and nothing is being upgraded underneath anyone. What we would rather avoid is a conversation about this during an incident, so if you have a 2.x cluster, it is worth planning the move while it is nobody’s emergency.
